Our Story

Karpet began in 2024, but the story starts way before that — with a desire to go, to meet, and to listen.

It all unfolded somewhere between the winding roads and weathered trails of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. What began as a personal journey grew into a deeper connection — with a land, its people, and a craft shaped by rhythm, patience, and intuition.

That’s where we met the women who weave with heart lines — spinning wool into stories, tying ancestral memory into every knot. They work from their homes or within cooperatives, dressed in purpose and tradition. They work with what the earth offers: wool gathered from the mountains, color drawn from roots, leaves, and sunlight. A quiet, patient practice passed from generation to generation, heart to heart.

We don’t buy rugs from markets or factories.
We travel. We sit down. We share tea.
We listen. We handpick. We pay directly and fairly.

Each rug we bring back holds something rare: a moment, a meeting, a trace of someone’s hands.
Their beauty isn’t perfect. It’s real.
And that’s what moves us.

Karpet is a slow, human project.
Rooted in trust, time, and respect.
A bridge between old worlds and new homes.
Between heritage and modern living.
Between people.

Our Values

At Karpet, everything begins with respect — for people, for time, for craft.
We see the rug as more than an object. It holds gestures, patience, heritage. It carries a way of life, passed down and quietly protected.

We believe in human connections — direct, honest, lasting.
We meet the artisans, we share tea, we listen. Every rug we bring back is chosen by hand, and paid for in person. Most of the time, 90% of the price goes directly to the weaver, and the rest supports the cooperative she belongs to. That’s how trust is built. That’s how things should be.

Our rugs are made from natural, local materials: wool from the mountains, dyed with plants like pomegranate, chamomile, or oak.
No chemicals. No machines. No shortcuts. We keep things simple — and we transport only what we love, in small quantities.

Every piece is made by hand, knot by knot, following traditional techniques.
There are no two the same. Slight irregularities in the thread or pattern are part of the story. They remind us that these rugs are not produced — they are created.

We choose slowly, carefully. We don’t believe in endless collections. We believe in durability, in things that stay with you.
And we believe that beauty lives in what’s real — not perfect, but full of meaning.

Respect & Transparency

We believe in fair trade beyond labels. Every rug carries the trace of the hands that made it, and where each piece comes from.

From Remote Paths

We travel, listen, and engage directly with artisans in remote villages. By offering fair prices, we support sustainable income and build lasting partnerships.

Sustainability

All rugs are made from local wool and dyed with natural plants. Our rugs are built to last, in both quality and meaning. We believe in consuming less, but better.

Authenticity icon

Authenticity & Quality

Each rug is unique, made slowly with care. Imperfections are not flaws but signs of a human touch. We choose each piece for its soul, texture, and story.
