Care instructions

A simple guide to care for your handmade wool rug — with time, softness, and respect.

1. Routine maintenance

  • Vacuum once a week — low suction only, no rotating brush, and never on the fringes.
  • Flip the rug every few weeks to help dust naturally fall out.
  • Rotate occasionally to ensure even wear over time.
  • Avoid direct sunlight — natural dyes last longer when kept in shade.

2. In case of stains

  • Act fast — blot the top and underside with absorbent paper. Don’t rub.
  • Rinse with cold water only — never hot.
  • Use Marseille soap or wool-safe detergent. Lather, rinse, repeat if needed.
  • Try baking soda for tougher stains. For liquids, add a bit of sparkling water.
  • Let it air dry completely before using again — in the shade, laid flat.

3. What to avoid

  • Harsh chemical cleaners
  • Machine washing or soaking
  • Steam cleaning or exposure to heat

4. Storing your rug

  • Clean and dry your rug completely before storage
  • Roll it (never fold) with the pile facing inward
  • Wrap in cotton or breathable fabric — avoid plastic
  • Store in a cool, dry place, ideally off the floor

Wool is alive. With a little care, your rug will soften, settle, and stay with you for years.
